Measurement of reaction cross-sections for Y at average neutron energies of 7.24-24.83 MeV

چکیده
We measured neutron-induced reaction cross-sections for Y(n,γ)Y and Y(n,α)Rb reactions with the average neutron energy region from 7.45 to 24.83 MeV by an activation and off-line γ-ray spectrometric technique using the MC-50 Cyclotron at Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences. The neutron-induced reaction cross-sections of Y as a function of neutron energy were taken from the TENDL-2013 library. The flux-weighted average cross-sections for Y(n,γ)Y and Y(n,α)Rb reactions were calculated from the TENDL-2013 values based on mono-energetic neutron and by using the neutron energy spectrum from MCNPX 2.6.0 code. The present results are compared with the flux-weighted values of TENDL-2013 and are found to be in good agreement

Nuclear cross sections for gamma ray deexcitation line production by secondary neutrons in the Earth’s atmosphere
[1] Interactions of galactic cosmic rays and solar energetic particles with nuclei in the Earth’s atmosphere produce secondary neutrons. Secondary neutrons with energies greater than a few MeV interact with atmospheric nuclei and produce gamma ray lines. The relative intensities of these lines depend on the shape of the neutron energy spectrum, and so their measurement with satellite detectors ...
متن کاملMeasurements of Cross-sections of the Neutron Threshold Reactions and Their Usage in High Energy Neutron Measurements at “energy plus Transmutation”
We measured neutron cross-sections of various threshold reactions using different quasimonoenergetic neutron sources. Our motivation for the cross-section measurements comes from the "Energy plus Transmutation" project. In this international project we use neutron activation foils for measurements of high energy neutron field, which is produced during the proton or deuteron irradiation of a thi...
متن کاملExperimental and Monte Carlo studies on the response of CR-39 detectors to Am-Be neutron spectrum
Background: The Poly-Allyl Diglycol Carbonate (PADC) detector is of particular interest for development of a fast neutron dosimeter. Fast neutrons interact with the constituents of the CR-39 detector and produce H, C and O recoils, as well as (n, α) reaction. These neutron- induced charged particles contribute towards the response of CR-39 detectors. Material and Methods: Electrochemical...
متن کاملAn investigation of neutron direct damages at energies of 0.1-2 MeV on the DNA molecules with atomic structure deduced using Geant4 toolkit
This study proposes a method to estimate RBE of fast neutrons using Monte Carlo simulations. This approach is based on the combination of an atomic resolution DNA geometrical model and Monte Carlo simulations for tracking particles. Atomic positions were extracted from the Protein Data Bank. The GEANT4 code was used for tracking the secondary particles generated by fast neutrons during their in...

The reaction np → ppπ − has been studied in a kinematically complete measurement with a large acceptance time-of-flight spectrometer for incident neutron energies between threshold and 570 MeV. The proton-proton invariant mass distributions show a strong enhancement due to the pp(1 S0) final state interaction. A large anisotropy was found in the pion angular distributions in contrast to the rea...
